About
Beatrice Verhoeven is an entertainment journalist in Los Angeles, California. Currently, she covers awards, including the Oscars and the Emmys, at The Hollywood Reporter, where she is the Deputy Awards Editor. She previously worked at TheWrap, another Hollywood trade where she most recently served as the Film Editor, covering the film industry.
Beatrice studied English with a minor in German at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree at the University of Southern California, studying journalism at Annenberg. During her studies, she interned at various different outlets, including Who What Wear, Los Angeles Magazine, Ryan Seacrest Productions and The Hollywood Reporter, while also working at USC’s Neon Tommy in her free time. Her internships and previous jobs enabled her to master print and online journalism in the fashion, lifestyle and entertainment spheres, before realizing that entertainment journalism, primarily the film industry, is her passion.
Beatrice also attends film festivals as well as awards shows, and conducts video interviews with talent for the web. She’s interviewed stars like Dwayne Johnson, Nicole Kidman, Kristen Stewart, Andrew Garfield, Glenn Close, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Priyanka Chopra, Willem Dafoe, Rami Malek, Florence Pugh and Paris Hilton, among many others.
She is a member of the Critics Choice Association.
Background Info
Beatrice Verhoeven was born and raised in Dusseldorf, Germany, and went to the International School of Dusseldorf from age four until age 18. Then, she decided to move to Los Angeles, California to attend Loyola Marymount University, where she studied English with a minor in German.
After that, she attended the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School to get her Master’s degree in Journalism, because LMU did not offer a journalism degree and she knew she wanted to learn more about the craft. During her studies, she interned at various different outlets, including Who What Wear, Los Angeles Magazine, Ryan Seacrest Productions and The Hollywood Reporter, while also working at USC’s Neon Tommy in her free time.
